Joint Meeting of ISBRA and ESBRA

2nd World Congress on Alcohol and Alcoholism 2022, Cracow, Poland

Dear Colleagues,

On behalf of the Organizing Committee, we are very happy to invite you to the 2nd World Congress on Alcohol and Alcoholism, joint meeting of the International Society for Biomedical Research on Alcoholism (ISBRA) and the European Society for Biomedical Research on Alcoholism (ESBRA). Both societies have chosen Cracow in Poland to be the host city. The Congress will be held from September 17 to 20, 2022.

We are planning a fascinating interdisciplinary scientific program that will meet expectations of all participants. We truly believe that the hospitable environment of Cracow will provide a venue for effective exchange of new research findings and ideas in a warm and friendly atmosphere, where innovative collaborations may develop. We hope that the COVID-19 pandemic will not remain an obstacle by then and finally we will be able to see each other in person. On behalf of the organizers, I look forward to welcoming you in Cracow in September 2022.

Cracow

Cracow is one of the most perfectly preserved old cities in Europe and can be treated as a textbook of Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque architecture, which placed it on the List of the UNESCO World Cultural and Natural Heritage. Cracow, the former capital of Poland, is famous for having Europe’s largest market square. The Historic Centre of Cracow is situated at the foot of the Royal Wawel Castle and its pervasive culture of authenticity is visible in its location and setting, its forms and designs, and its materials and substance. The city’s panorama, including its historic landmarks, such as Wawel Hill, the Town Hall Tower, and the amazing churches has not been impaired in any way, and fully reflects its origin up to current times. The other examples of sophisticated history of Cracow are the 14th-century fortifications and the medieval site of Kazimierz with its ancient synagogues in the southern part of town, Jagellonian University, and the Gothic cathedral where the kings of Poland were buried. Cracow is an urban architectural ensemble of outstanding quality, in terms of both its townscape and its individual monuments. The historic centre of the town admirably illustrates the process of continuous urban growth from the Middle Ages to the present day.
